Method
Step 1: Prepare the Fruits
- First things first, let’s chop some fruit. Grab your peaches, pit them, and slice them into wedges. Next up, take that lime and cut it into rounds. The zest of the lime will really pop in this drink and balance any sweetness. Now for the apple—slice it too, and toss everything into your serving pitcher. Feel free to let your creativity shine. Have leftover berries? Toss them in there!
Step 2: Add the Liqueurs
- Once your fruits are prepped and ready to go, it’s time to add the peach liqueur and the apricot-infused brandy right on top of them. Give it a gentle stir—I like to think of it as waking up those flavors. Allow this mixture to marinate for at least 30 minutes. During this time, the fruits will infuse their sweetness into the liquors, making it even tastier!
Step 3: Make It Sparkle
- After the fruits get cozy in their liquor bath, it’s time for the white wine. Pour the entire bottle into the pitcher, over the fruits and liqueurs. You're almost there! Next, add your chilled soda or prosecco. I typically add a splash to start and then test. You can adjust according to your taste; a bit more fizz might be just what you like!
Step 4: Add Fresh Mint
- Don’t forget the fresh mint! If you decide to use it, simply tear a few sprigs and throw them in. This will add an appealing aroma and a hint of freshness to the sangria. Remember, it's a party, so you want those delightful smells wafting around!
Step 5: Chill and Serve
- Last but certainly not least, pop the sangria in the fridge for at least an hour. Let it chill and allow the flavors to meld together beautifully. When you’re ready to serve, it’s best served in glasses filled with ice. You can add a slice of peach or orange to each glass for a simple garnish.
Step 6: Enjoy!
- Time to enjoy your creation! With a lovely drink in hand, sit back and watch your guests smile as they take a sip of summer itself.
Notes
- Peaches: Choose ripe peaches for sweetness. You can substitute them with nectarines if you prefer.
- Peach liqueur: This ingredient accentuates the fruity flavor. If you want alternatives, you could use apricot schnapps or even a splash of rum.
- Mint: Fresh mint can be swapped with basil for an intriguing twist.
- Lime: Don't skip this! Lime brightens everything and balances the flavors.
- Green apple: Granny Smith apples work best; their tartness offers delightful contrast.
- Strawberries: Fresher berries mean better sangria. Feel free to mix in blueberries if you have them!
- White wine: A Sauvignon Blanc is a fantastic choice. It offers crispness that pairs well with fruity flavors.
- Brandy: This creates depth; however, feel free to use a fruit-flavored vodka if you prefer.
- Club soda/Prosecco: This step gives a refreshing fizz. Choose based on your personal preference for sweetness.
