Ingredients

  • 1 piece of fresh ginger
  • 1 large lemon
  • 1 dash of ground turmeric
  • 1 pinch of freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1-2 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 cups of hot water

Method

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
  1. Start by washing your ginger and lemon. You want them clean since we’re utilizing their natural essences.
Use a peeler or a spoon to remove the skin from the ginger and then slice it into thin rounds. As for the lemon, slice it in half and juice one half while keeping the other half for garnishing.
Step 2: Boil the Water
  1. Next, boil two cups of water. If you have a teapot, that’s the perfect way to prepare your hot water. Once the water is bubbling away, it’s time to combine your ingredients.
Step 3: Combine Everything
  1. In a heatproof pitcher or large mug, add the sliced ginger. Pour the hot water over it and let it steep for five to ten minutes. For stronger flavor, add more steep time.
Step 4: Add Lemon and Other Ingredients
  1. Once it’s steeped to your liking, add the freshly squeezed lemon juice, honey, and just a dash of turmeric, black pepper, and cayenne, if you wish. Stir well to combine.
Step 5: Garnish and Serve
  1. Top with fresh mint for a garnish. You can serve this drink hot or cold (just let it sit until it cools). Enjoy the vibrant flavors and wellness benefits!

Notes

  • Use Organic Produce: Whenever possible, choose organic ginger and lemons. This ensures no chemicals affect the flavors or benefits.
  • Experiment with Sweetness: Feel free to adjust the honey to your preference. Agave or maple syrup works too!
  • Fresh Icing: If you love it cold, add ice after it’s cooled for a more refreshing drink.
  • Herbal Infusions: Consider adding herbs like basil or thyme for a unique twist.
  • Make in Batches: Prepare larger quantities for an all-day hydration companion.
