Joanna Gaines Frittata Recipe

Joanna Gaines Frittata Recipe - Affordable Food Ideas

Joanna Gaines’ frittata is a versatile dish that can shine as a hearty breakfast, a satisfying brunch, or even a light dinner. To elevate its flavors, consider pairing it with a fresh garden salad made of greens like kale, arugula, and spinach, topped with a zesty vinaigrette.
The tangy acidity of the dressing balances the creamy richness of the eggs beautifully. For a touch of rustic charm, serve it with warm, crusty sourdough bread—either lightly buttered or drizzled with olive oil—for an irresistible side.
If you’re looking to add more texture and flavor, crispy roasted potatoes seasoned with herbs make a delightful addition.
Alternatively, try avocado toast made with mashed ripe avocado on whole-grain bread, finished with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Its creamy texture pairs seamlessly with the frittata, creating a meal that’s both indulgent and balanced.

Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs, whisked until frothy
  • 1 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp. finely minced sweet yellow onion
  • Pinch of flaky sea salt
  • A dash of freshly cracked black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. finely diced fire-roasted red pepper
  • 2 oz. creamy goat cheese, crumbled
  • 2 Tbsp. thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh chives
  • 1/4 tsp. smoked paprika

Method

Step 1: Preheat Your Oven
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Getting the oven warmed up ahead of time is essential for achieving that perfect cook on your frittata later.
Step 2: Sauté Vegetables
  1. In an oven-safe skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the minced onion. Sauté for about 3 minutes or until the onions become translucent. It’s the moment when the aroma fills the kitchen and hints of what's to come.
Step 3: Add Peppers
  1. Add the diced fire-roasted red peppers to the skillet. Sauté for another 2–3 minutes. You want these to warm through and infuse their flavor into the onions.
Step 4: Season
  1. Now it's time to season! Sprinkle in the salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir everything together and let the mixture cook for another minute. This step enhances the flavor of the vegetables.
Step 5: Combine Eggs and Add to Skillet
  1. Whisk the eggs in a bowl until frothy. Pour the eggs over the sautéed mixture in the skillet. Give it a gentle stir to ensure that the vegetables are evenly distributed.
Step 6: Top with Cheese and Herbs
  1. Sprinkle the crumbled goat cheese, sliced basil, and chopped chives over the top. At this stage, it looks beautiful. You can almost taste the richness already.
Step 7: Bake
  1. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for about 15–20 minutes or until the eggs are set and the top is lightly golden. If you want a little more color, you can switch to broil for the last couple of minutes. Just keep an eye on it!

Notes

  • Use an oven-safe skillet: Make sure your skillet can handle the oven heat. Cast iron or stainless steel pans work wonderfully.
  • Don’t overcrowd it: If you have too many ingredients, your frittata may struggle to set. Stick to a reasonable amount of fillings.
  • Experiment with flavors: Feel free to swap out the herbs and cheese based on your preferences. Feta, mozzarella, or even cheddar can work really well.
  • Let it cool: Once it's out of the oven, allow the frittata to cool slightly before slicing. This helps it hold its shape.
  • Make it ahead: You can make the frittata in advance and store it in the fridge. It reheats beautifully!
