  • 4 slices fresh tomato
  • 4 thin slices of onion optional, for a mild bite

  • 1 can tuna packed in oil, drained 5-ounce
  • 3-4 tablespoons mayonnaise Hellmann’s recommended, plus more for spreading
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped celery
  • 2-3 tablespoons finely diced sweet onion Vidalia or similar
  • 3-4 cornichons, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon capers, rinsed, patted dry, and chopped if large or 5 pitted olives, chopped
  • Fresh lemon juice, to taste
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground white pepper, to taste
  • 1-2 tablespoons freshly minced chives or parsley optional, for garnish

Step 1: Prepare the Tuna Salad
  1. Start by draining the tuna. Use a good quality can; it makes a noticeable difference. Transfer the drained tuna to a mixing bowl. Break it into smaller pieces with a fork for easier mixing.
Step 2: Mix in Veggies and Flavorings
